STATE ACCOUNTANT: TAX RECONCILIATION

Job Overview

A State Accountant: Tax Reconciliation position is available at Head Office in Qonce (Reference: DSRAC 08/09/2026) with a salary range of R338 106 – R398 277 per annum. Candidates require a National Senior Certificate plus a National Diploma or B Degree in Accounting, Financial Management, Cost & Management Accounting, or Internal Audit, along with 1 to 2 years of public sector expenditure management experience. Key duties involve tax rebates services, tax reconciliation, financial administration, reporting, and customer service. Knowledge of LOGIS, PERSAL, BAS, PFMA, and the Tax Administration Act is essential.

Requirements & Qualifications

• National Senior Certificate
• National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or B. Degree (NQF level 7) in Accounting, Cost & Management Accounting, Financial Management, or Internal Audit
• 1 to 2 years experience within the public sector expenditure management field and payment of employee benefits
• Knowledge of financial systems including LOGIS, PERSAL, and BAS
• Knowledge of Tax Administration Act, Public Service Regulations, Legislations, policies, prescripts, and procedures
• Knowledge of Treasury Regulations, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), and Financial Regulations
• Knowledge of Batho Pele principles
• Computer literacy specializing in Advanced Excel and PowerPoint Presentation
• Good communication and report writing skills
• Sound organisational and people management skills
• Valid driving licence (Code 8) is an added advantage

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Render Tax Rebates Services by receiving, assessing, and processing tax rebate applications
• Verify the completeness and accuracy of supporting documentation submitted by taxpayers and stakeholders
• Validate taxpayer information against financial and tax records and maintain tax rebate information on financial management systems
• Calculate and process approved tax rebates, prepare payment schedules, and resolve tax rebate-related queries
• Perform Tax Reconciliation by reconciling tax rebate accounts and general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies
• Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation reports and prepare management information on tax rebate transactions
• Monitor outstanding tax rebate claims, maintain accurate financial records, and assist with audit requests
• Provide professional advice and guidance to taxpayers and stakeholders regarding tax rebate procedures and maintain productive working relationships
