Job Overview

The Pretoria Regional Office is hiring a Senior Internal Auditor (Ref No: 2026/343) with a salary of R413 001 per annum. Requirements include a three-year tertiary qualification in Internal Auditing or Accounting, relevant auditing experience, IIA registration, and security clearance. Responsibilities involve developing internal audit strategic and operational plans, conducting risk-based audits, identifying process weaknesses, reporting findings, and providing administrative support to the audit committee. Requirements & Qualifications

• A minimum of three-year tertiary qualification (NQF Level 06) or National Diploma in Internal Auditing or Accounting.
• Relevant years of experience in the field of auditing.
• Registration with the Institute for Internal Auditors (IIA).
• Security clearance.
• Knowledge of IAA Charter, IAA Methodology, IAA Standards, and Standards for Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
• Knowledge of Treasury Regulations and Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
• Knowledge of Institute of Internal Auditors Code of Ethics.
• Possession of an Internal Audit technician (IAT) and or Professional Internal Audit Technician (PIAT) qualification is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Advanced Audit Process and associated phases, departmental business systems, processes, policies, and procedures.
• Knowledge of accounting standards and Team-mate Audit Software.
• Advanced communication (verbal and written) and report writing skills.
• Organisation, coordination, interpersonal, negotiation, and analytical thinking skills.
• Ability to assess and analyse information and make relevant findings.
• Computer literate with the ability to work under pressure, as part of a team, creatively, and pay attention to detail within specific timeframes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide inputs in the development of Internal Audit Strategic and Operational Plans.
• Identify and analyse critical risks from the Department’s Risk Management plan requiring Internal Audit Activity focus and controls.
• Establish risk-based plans to determine the priorities of the IAA consistent with organizational goals.
• Determine focus areas, audit scope, allocate resources, timing, reporting requirements, and deadlines for audit assignments.
• Perform activities of the IAA in accordance with IIA standards.
• Conduct reviews as per approved annual plan and/or approved ad hoc requests.
• Identify process weaknesses, provide appropriate recommendations for improvement, and monitor management implementation.
• Report on internal audit activity engagement findings and conclusions.
• Provide Secretarial services to the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the Department.
• Render administrative support services and administer co-sourcing activities within the Directorate.
• Ensure effective flow of information, documents, and safekeeping of documentation in line with legislation and policies.
• Obtain inputs, collate, and compile progress, monthly, and management reports.
• Respond to enquiries from internal and external stakeholders, and collect and analyse information requested by superiors.
• Coordinate travel arrangements, manage leave registers and telephone accounts, and handle standard procurement for the manager and unit.
