Job Overview

The Western Cape Government Department of Agriculture is hiring a Farm Aid for breeding, reproduction, animal housing, and welfare under reference AGR 51/2026. This entry-level position offers a salary between R144 024 and R169 656 per annum (Level 02). Requirements include an Abet level 2 certificate or equivalent, relevant farmwork knowledge, animal care competencies, and equipment operation skills. Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform general activities in respect of crop production including irrigation of crops, soil cultivation, cleaning, and hoeing
• Perform general activities in respect of livestock including care for sick livestock, dipping, vaccination, and dosing
• Perform general activities such as cleaning of facilities and disposal of farm waste material
• Perform general activities in respect of infrastructure including maintaining and building roads, fences, pipelines, canals, dams, drinking troughs, animal housing, and buildings
• Maintain windmills and water supply systems
