DEPUTY DIRECTOR: INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Job Overview

The North West Provincial Government seeks a Deputy Director: International Relations based in Mmabatho. Responsibilities include facilitating international dialogue, coordinating memorandums of understanding, promoting the African Agenda, managing international projects, and maintaining the database of international missions. Candidates require a relevant NQF level 6 qualification, 6 years of experience including 3 years at Assistant Director level, a driver's license, and knowledge of government frameworks like PFMA and international policy.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Three-year tertiary qualification in International Relations, Political Sciences, Economics, and/or related qualifications at NQF level 6
• 6 years' experience in International Relations
• 3 years of experience should be at Assistant Director level
• A valid driver's license
• Knowledge of government prescripts and procedures, financial administration, PSA, PSR, PFMA, International law and policy, and UN regulations and policies
• Skills in communication, organization, project management, and events management
• Understanding of South African foreign policy and multilateral institutions such as the UN, AU, SADC, SACU, and NAM
• Negotiation skills and change management knowledge

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Facilitate international dialogue to strengthen relations on foreign investment
• Coordinate the implementation of memorandums of understanding between the province and sister governments abroad
• Consolidate and promote the African Agenda by forging and maintaining relations
• Coordinate international projects and manage stakeholders
• Coordinate international visits
• Update the database of international missions
