Job Overview

The Office of the Chief Justice is hiring a Data Capturer at the Western Cape Division of the High Court in Cape Town. This Level 04 position offers an annual salary ranging from R201 093 to R236 877. Applicants must possess a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification. No prior experience is required, though a valid driver's license is advantageous. Responsibilities include capturing and validating data, maintaining records and files, supporting court personnel, and handling administrative queries. Applications can be submitted via email.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Applicants should be in possession of a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification at NQF level four (4) as recognised by SAQA.
• No experience required.
• A valid driver's license will serve as an added advantage.
• Knowledge of clerical duties, practices, data capture ability, Batho Pele principles, and working procedures.
• Skilled in written and verbal communication, interpersonal relations, computer literacy, customer service, planning, organising, problem-solving, analytical, and numeracy skills.
• Attributes include ability to work under pressure, flexibility, motivation, meticulousness, and self-driven nature.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Capture data from available records into required formats such as databases, tables, and spreadsheets.
• Verify missing data and errors observed during data entry, review, and validate all data from records and files.
• Submit data, make regular backups, update registers and statistics, and keep and maintain records and files in an organised, secure method.
• Provide information to components and support verification personnel with availing data sources and files.
• Collect correspondence from the general office, distribute files and correspondence to Registrars, and handle emails when requested.
• Report all IT problems immediately to the supervisor and provide support as required by the judiciary, Court Manager, and/or supervisor.
• Ensure all case records and court documents for data capturing are kept safely while in possession.
• Attend to Attorneys' queries with respect to quasi-judicial matters, open files, and sort and distribute incoming data equally.
