CANDIDATE ARCHITECT

Job Overview

The Mpumalanga Department of Health is seeking a Candidate Architect for a five-year contract based at the Provincial Office in Mbombela (Nelspruit). The role requires an NQF Level 7 qualification in Architecture, three years of post-qualification experience, and current registration with SACAP as a Professional Architect. Key duties include assisting with infrastructure procurement strategies, project briefs, project execution plans, contract management, and technical condition assessments in alignment with the IDMS framework.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12
• NQF Level 7 qualification in Architecture as recognized by SAQA
• Three (03) years post-qualification experience
• Current registration with the South African Council for Architectural Profession (SACAP) as a Professional Architect
• Valid driver's licence
• Computer literacy
• Knowledge of the Construction Industry Development Board Act and Regulations
• Knowledge of PFMA, Division of Revenue Act, Treasury Regulations, and SCM policies
• Knowledge of building standards, architectural profession acts, and environmental legislation

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist to prepare the Procurement Strategy, Infrastructure Programme Management Plan (IPMP) and updating of the plan
• Assist to prepare the infrastructure budget and Final Project List
• Assist to prepare Packages/Individual Project Briefs and present them to the Implementing Agent as Project Execution Plan v1
• Assist to manage preparation of Packages/Individual Project Briefs for projects not allocated to an Implementing Agent
• Assist to manage project implementation of projects not allocated to an Implementing Agent
• Assist to review Project Execution Plans Versions 2 to 7 prepared by the Implementing Agent
• Assist to review Variation Orders in terms of contract management practice and financial implications
• Assist to develop Project Stage reports and designs in accordance with the Provincial Infrastructure Delivery Framework (IDMS)
• Assist to manage the updating of project/programme documentation
• Coordinate and participate in project commissioning, including site visits
• Review Maintenance Plans and budgets upon completion of projects
• Collect and update information on systems in terms of Technical Condition Assessments on completion of projects
• Assist to provide feedback to Directorate Infrastructure Planning on functional and technical norms and standards
• Assist to participate in the continuous improvement of best practices, standardised processes, procedures, and software applications
