ARCHITECT (PRODUCTION) GRADE A: INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING

Job Overview

The Department of Health in Mpumalanga is seeking an Architect (Production) Grade A for Infrastructure Planning based at the Provincial Office in Mbombela (Nelspruit). Candidates require an NQF Level 7 in Architecture, 3 years post-qualification experience, and SACAP registration as a Professional Architect. Responsibilities include developing architectural standards, master planning, asset management input, and infrastructure project management.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12
• NQF Level 7 qualification in Architecture as recognised by SAQA
• Three (03) years post-qualification experience
• Current registration with the South African Council for Architectural Profession (SACAP) as a Professional Architect
• Valid driver’s licence
• Computer literacy
• Knowledge of Health Act and Regulations (Act 61 of 2003)
• Knowledge of Construction Industry Development Board Act of 2000 and Regulations
• Knowledge of National Building Standards Act of 1977 and Regulations
• Knowledge of Architectural Profession Act of 2000
• Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, Treasury Practice Notes and Circulars
• Knowledge of Government Immovable Asset Management Act of 2007
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 and Regulations

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop architectural functional and technical norms and standards
• Formulate architectural policies, strategies, plans, procedures and criteria for infrastructure programmes and projects
• Handle Master Planning, Project Briefs, Business Cases, Accommodation Schedules and Operational Narratives
• Prepare architectural inputs to the development of the User Asset Management Plan and Project List
• Conduct research and literature studies to keep up with new technologies, viability and feasibility of geographical information management options
• Interact with relevant professional development boards and councils
