CHIEF ARCHIT GRADE A: INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAMME DELIVERY

Job Overview

The Mpumalanga Department of Health is seeking a Chief Architect Grade A for Infrastructure Programme Delivery based at the Provincial Office in Mbombela (Nelspruit). Applicants must hold an NQF Level 7 in Architecture, six years of post-qualification experience, and current registration with SACAP as a Professional Architect. Key responsibilities include managing facility planning, establishing architectural norms and standards, preparing inputs for User Asset Management Plans, and overseeing infrastructure programmes in compliance with relevant legislation such as the PFMA and OHS Act.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12
• NQF Level 7 qualification in Architecture as recognized by SAQA
• Six (6) years of post-qualification experience
• Current registration with the South African Council for Architectural Profession (SACAP) as a Professional Architect
• Valid driver’s licence
• Computer literacy
• Knowledge of Health Act and Regulations
• Knowledge of Construction Industry Development Board Act of 2000 and Regulations
• Knowledge of National Building Standards Act of 1977 and Regulations
• Knowledge of Architectural Profession Act of 2000
• Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, Treasury Practice Notes and Circulars
• Knowledge of Government Immovable Asset Management Act of 2007
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 and Regulations

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop architectural functional and technical norms and standards
• Formulate architectural policies, strategies, plans, procedures and criteria for all infrastructure programmes and projects
• Manage Master Planning, Project Briefs, Business Cases, Accommodation Schedules and Operational Narratives
• Prepare architectural inputs for the development of the User Asset Management Plan and Project List
• Manage facility planning
• Conduct research and literature studies to keep up with new technologies, viability and feasibility of geographical information management options
• Interact with relevant professional development boards and councils
• Ensure effective and efficient resources management
