ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: CREATIVE CLUSTER & COMMUNITIES

Job Overview

The Gauteng Provincial Government is seeking an Assistant Director: Creative Cluster & Communities for the North Corridor under reference REFS/056589. The role requires a Grade 12 certificate, a 3-year NQF level 6/7 qualification in Arts and Culture or related fields, 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience, and a valid driver's license. Key duties include implementing arts and culture policies, managing performing and visual arts programmes, supporting creative industries, promoting cultural tourism, and managing human and financial resources. Requirements & Qualifications

• Grade 12 Certificate
• 3-year tertiary qualification (NQF level 6/7) in Arts and Culture, Fine Arts, Creative Industries, Heritage, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, or a relevant/related qualification
• A minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience at a supervisory level
• Relevant experience in an arts and culture environment
• Valid driver's license

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Facilitate the implementation of policies, business plans, strategies, and procedures for arts and culture
• Develop and implement creative industries sector policies
• Facilitate and monitor the provision of performing arts, music, and dance programmes in the corridors
• Coordinate live performance circuits, events, exhibitions, and trades for performing arts, music, and dance
• Facilitate and support new creative business models, revenue streams, and the attraction and retention of talent, trade, and investment
• Facilitate and monitor the provision of visual arts, craft, and design in the corridor level
• Provide support for arts and culture production spaces including tools, equipment, material, and capacity building
• Facilitate and monitor the provision of audio, visual, and interactive media in the corridor, including electronic media, animation, gaming, and graphic design
• Promote the development and marketing of provincial cultural tourism strategies to reposition Gauteng as the hub of Africa’s creative industries
• Manage human, financial, and physical resources, including budgeting, expenditure control, and asset management
• Conduct strategic and operational planning, manage operational plans, and oversee staff performance management (PMDS) and leave
