Job Overview

The Gauteng Department seeks Cultural Officers (X2 Posts, Level 07) across the Central, East, and South Corridors. Candidates require a Senior Certificate and an NQF Level 6/7 qualification in Fine Arts, Creative Industries, Heritage, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, or a related field. No prior experience is required, but a valid driver's license and no criminal record are mandatory. Responsibilities include facilitating arts transformation, supporting youth development, managing stakeholder partnerships, monitoring funded projects, and providing administrative support.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Senior Certificate
• A three-year tertiary qualification (NQF level 6/7) in Fine Arts / Creative Industries / Heritage / Performing Arts / Visual Arts or related qualification as recognized by SAQA
• No experience is required, though relevant experience will be an added advantage
• A valid driver’s license

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Facilitate transformation of performing and visual arts to impact on socioeconomic development
• Promote and develop community/public based arts, culture and heritage programmes
• Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders
• Manage the implementation of youth development programmes and projects
• Promote socio-cultural development of vulnerable groups
• Identify and support the development of high impact job creation areas and skills development in arts, culture and heritage sector
• Promote the culture of reading and writing, SA craft, music sector and technical service industries and multimedia sector
• Design and conduct awareness campaigns to promote arts and culture programmes
• Liaise with all relevant stakeholders and conduct research on arts and culture programmes
• Promote usage of Arts Centres and integrated crafts hubs
• Coordinate the establishment of and provide support to arts and culture structures
• Implement policies and strategies for arts, culture and heritage sector
• Provide advice to all relevant stakeholders on arts and culture matters
• Monitor and evaluate funded projects and programmes
• Develop and maintain a database of arts, culture and heritage institutions
• Provide administration and technical support for arts and culture programmes
• Monitor the implementation of approved programmes for all funded organizations and institutions
• Coordinate and ensure provision of coaching, discipline, and mentoring of staff to improve performance
• Supervise staff performance and ensure assessment
• Consolidate budget in the sub-directorate, monitor budget and expenditure, and manage compilation of reports and statistics
