Job Overview

The Western Cape Management Region in Cape Town is hiring a Visitors Committee Coordinating Officer (VCCO) at Salary Level 07 (R338 106 per annum). Requirements & Qualifications

• Senior Certificate/Grade 12
• Degree/National Diploma in Public Administration/Public Management at NQF 6 as recognised by SAQA
• Three-year Degree/National Diploma in Office Management or Administration or relevant qualification on NQF 6 or equivalent qualification
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Justice Cluster or a minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience
• Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, Public Service Act and Regulations and National Treasury Regulations
• A valid driver’s licence
• Computer literacy (MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Sound interpersonal relations
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Planning and organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure, independently, and as part of a team

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide management, supervision and control of Independent Correctional Centre Visitors within the region
• Coordinate and monitor ICCV activities, allocate work, review reports, monitor attendance and performance, and facilitate induction and training arrangements
• Manage complaints, including general, urgent and mandatory complaints, ensure proper recording and escalation of matters, and follow up on outstanding responses
• Coordinate Visitors’ Committee and stakeholder engagement meetings, prepare agendas, compile minutes, and track implementation of resolutions
• Conduct performance evaluations, compile statistical and management reports, maintain records and registers
• Provide administrative support to regional oversight activities
• Liaise with correctional centres, ICCVs, Visitors’ Committees and internal stakeholders to support effective oversight
