Job Overview

A Tradesman Aid position is available at Head Office, Cape Town, on the premises of Lentegeur Hospital within the Engineering and Technical Support Services. Candidates require a Grade 10 certificate and experience in electrical, mechanical, building, plumbing, carpentry, or refrigeration fields. Responsibilities include carrying out minor maintenance, assisting with repairs and emergency breakdowns, installations, tool management, and supporting artisans. The role requires physical fitness for manual labour and willingness to travel across the Western Cape.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: Grade 10 or equivalent certificate.
• Appropriate experience within one of the following fields: Electrical, Mechanical, Building, Plumbing, Carpentry and Aircon/Refrigeration.
• Appropriate experience in a multi-functioned workshop environment.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Western Cape Province.
• Physically fit to do manual labour.
• Ability to handle tools.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out minor maintenance tasks.
• Assist with repairs and emergency breakdowns (including after hour's repairs).
• Assist with the installation of plant, equipment and alterations.
• Clear areas where work has been carried out.
• Ensure that tools and material are available when needed.
• Assist the Artisans in the execution of their duties.
