STATE VETERINARIAN: VETERINARY PUBLIC HEALTH (ELSENBURG)

Job Overview

The Western Cape Government Department of Agriculture is seeking a State Veterinarian for Veterinary Public Health in Elsenburg. The role involves providing animal health services, conducting disease surveillance, rendering veterinary public health and laboratory diagnostic services, and implementing contingency plans. Requirements include an NQF level 8 BVMch/BVSc degree, compulsory registration with the South African Veterinary Council, at least 1 year of post-qualification experience, and a valid Code EB or higher driving license. Requirements & Qualifications

• NQF level 8 BVMch/BVSc as recognised by the South African Veterinary Council
• Compulsory registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC)
• A minimum of 1 year post qualification experience
• A valid (Code EB or higher) driving license
• Computer literacy
• Financial Management competencies
• Statistical, research, and analytical competencies
• Communication and interpretation skills

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide Animal Health services
• Provide training and awareness programs (veterinary extension services) to communities with regard to Animal Health
• Render a Veterinary Laboratory Diagnostic and Epidemiology Service
• Render a Veterinary Public Health service
• Render an animal disease surveillance service
• Provide training and awareness programs (extension services) to communities with regards to VPH
• Implement contingency plans and conduct risk assessments for the mitigation of outbreak of diseases
• Perform all administrative and related functions
