STATE ACCOUNTANT: FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING (REPORTING)

Job Overview

The Western Cape Government is hiring a State Accountant for Financial Accounting (Reporting) based in the Western Cape Mobility Department. Candidates require a 3-year National Diploma or B-Degree alongside at least 1 year of relevant financial accounting experience. Key duties involve preparing interim and annual financial statements, providing financial accounting services, conducting In Year Monitoring and quarterly debt reporting, and executing supervisory functions. Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate 3-year qualification (National Diploma/ B-Degree or higher qualification)
• A minimum of 1-year relevant experience in a Financial Accounting or related working environment
• Knowledge of legislative framework governing the Public Service
• Knowledge of Public Service financial legislations, procedures and processes
• Knowledge of National Treasury Regulations, Provincial Treasury Instructions, and Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), 1999
• Knowledge of general information support systems such as PERSAL, LOGIS and BAS
• Proven computer literacy
• Written and verbal communication skills
• Accounting, Finance and Audit skills
• Economic, Financial and Statistical Analysis skills
• Planning and organising skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Report-writing skills

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Preparation of Interim and Annual Financial Statements
• Provide financial accounting services
• In Year Monitoring (IYM) and Quarterly debt reporting
• Managerial and Supervisory functions
