Job Overview

Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital is hiring four Staff Nurses across Grades 1, 2, and 3 within various nursing components. Responsibilities include providing basic nursing care, maintaining patient hygiene and safety, assisting professional nurses, and adhering to infection control guidelines. Applicants must possess a Grade 12 certificate, an Enrolled Nurse certificate, and current SANC registration, along with varying years of experience depending on the grade. Requirements & Qualifications

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Enrolled Nurse Certificate
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse
• Grade 1: No experience required
• Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after SANC registration as Staff Nurse
• Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after SANC registration as Staff Nurse
• Knowledge of Public Service policies, Acts, Regulations, Code of Conduct, Labour Relations Act, Batho Pele principles and Patients' Rights Charter
• Knowledge of SANC rules and regulations
• Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures
• Good communication, writing and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer literacy

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care to patients in accordance with the scope of practice
• Assist Professional Nurses with patient care and nursing procedures
• Maintain patient hygiene, comfort, dignity and safety
• Observe and report changes in patients' conditions to the Professional Nurse
• Assist with admission, transfer and discharge of patients
• Maintain accurate patient records and reports
• Ensure compliance with Infection Prevention and Control and Occupational Health and Safety practices
• Assist with the effective utilisation of resources
• Participate in patient and staff education as directed
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care
• Maintain professional growth and comply with ethical standards and the relevant Code of Conduct
• Work shifts as per allocation including night shift, weekends and Public Holidays
• Rotate to or be deployed to other nursing components within the institution as operationally required
