SOCIAL WORKER: OLDER PERSONS: GRADE 3

Job Overview

The Department of Social Development is seeking a Social Worker: Older Persons: Grade 3 at Zululand District. Responsibilities include rendering social services for the care, support, protection, and development of vulnerable groups through relevant programmes and NPOs, keeping abreast of social welfare developments, and performing administrative functions. Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, SACSSP registration, a minimum of 20 years of post-registration experience, and a valid driver's licence.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Social Work
• Registration with the South African Council for Social Services Profession (SACSSP) as a Social Worker
• A minimum of 20 years’ appropriate experience in Social Work after registration as a Social Worker with SACSSP
• A valid driver’s licence
• Knowledge of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, Batho-Pele principles, Labour Relations, Research Methodology, PFMA, and Treasury Regulations
• Knowledge and understanding of human behaviour, social systems, and mentoring/coaching for Grade 1 Social Workers
• Skills in written and verbal communication, listening, interpersonal relations, computer literacy, research, problem-solving, report writing, time management, presentation, facilitation, counselling, numeracy, and driving

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Render social services regarding the care, support, protection, and development of vulnerable individuals, groups, families, and communities through relevant programmes
• Collaborate with Support Services Offices and Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs)
• Keep up to date with new developments in the social work and social welfare fields of probation services
• Perform all administrative functions required for the job
