SOCIAL WORKER: HIV & AIDS SUPPORT: GRADE 3

Job Overview

The Department of Social Development seeks a Social Worker: HIV & AIDS Support Grade 3 in Amajuba District, KwaZulu-Natal. Responsibilities include rendering social services for the care, support, protection, and development of vulnerable groups through relevant programmes and NPOs, keeping up to date with social welfare developments, and performing administrative functions. Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, registration with SACSSP, a minimum of 20 years of post-registration experience, and a valid driver's licence.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Social Work
• Registration with the South African Council for Social Services Profession (SACSSP) as a Social Worker
• A minimum of 20 years’ appropriate experience in Social Work after registration as a Social Worker with SACSSP
• A valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, Batho-Pele principles, Labour Relations, Research Methodology, Public Finance Management Act, and Treasury Regulations
• Knowledge and understanding of human behaviour and social systems
• Competence to assist, develop, advocate for, and empower individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities
• Ability to mentor and coach Social Workers Grade 1 and EPMDS
• Skills in communication (written and verbal), listening, interpersonal relations, computer literacy, research, problem-solving, report writing, time management, presentation, facilitation, counselling, numeracy, language, and driving

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Render a social service with regard to the care, support, protection and development of vulnerable individuals, groups, families and communities through relevant programmes
• Work with Support Services Offices and Non-Profit Organisations (NPO’s)
• Keep up to date with new developments in the social work and social welfare fields of probation services
• Perform all administrative functions required for the job
