Job Overview

George Regional Hospital is hiring a Professional Nurse Grade 1 to 2 (Specialty: Obstetrics) within the Chief Directorate: Rural Health Services. Candidates require a basic nursing qualification, SANC registration, and a post-basic qualification in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science or equivalent. Experience ranges from 4 to 14 years depending on the grade. Duties include providing holistic patient care, utilizing resources effectively, and supporting the Operational Manager.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science (R212) OR A 4-year bachelor’s degree in nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification.
• A postgraduate diploma (R635) in accredited Midwifery.
• Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing, with at least 10 years after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or postgraduate diploma.
• Willingness to work shifts, day and night duty, weekends and public holidays.
• Willingness to rotate within the Obstetrics and Neonatology department.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape.
