Job Overview

George Regional Hospital is hiring a Professional Nurse Grade 1 to 2 (Specialty: Maternity Clinical Facilitator) within the Chief Directorate: Rural Health Services. Candidates must be registered with SANC as a Professional Nurse, possess a post-basic qualification in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science or equivalent postgraduate diploma in Midwifery, and have relevant nursing and midwifery experience. Responsibilities include facilitating learning opportunities, in-service training, skills assessments, nurse orientation, appropriate personnel placement, and resource management.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent allowing registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with SANC in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science (R212), OR a 4-year bachelor's degree in nursing (R174) or equivalent with a post-graduate diploma (R635) accredited in Midwifery.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Grade 1 Experience: Minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
• Grade 2 Experience: Minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing, including at least 10 years in Midwifery after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or post-graduate diploma.
• Willingness to work outside of normal working hours.
• Willingness to attend congresses, courses, and workshops.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape.
• Knowledge of nursing processes and procedures as outlined in the Nursing Act and SANC regulations.
• Skills to plan, organise, and coordinate services through analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making.
• Leadership towards the realisation of strategic goals and objectives of the nurse training department.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Facilitate the development of learning opportunities for all nursing personnel.
• Facilitate in-service training, updating of skills and competencies, and the orientation programme for nurses.
• Evaluate and assess the competencies, skills, and personal development of nursing personnel.
• Ensure the appropriate placement and accompaniment of nursing personnel.
• Effective management of resources.
