Job Overview

George Regional Hospital is hiring a Professional Nurse Grade 1 to 2 (Specialty: Theatre and Day Ward) within the Chief Directorate: Rural Health Services. Candidates require a basic nursing qualification, a post-basic qualification in Operating Theatre or Perioperative Nursing, SANC registration, and appropriate experience ranging from 4 to 14 years depending on the grade. Requirements & Qualifications

• Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent allowing registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Operating Theatre (R212), OR a 4-year bachelor's degree in nursing (R174) or equivalent with a post-graduate diploma (R635) in Perioperative Nursing.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Grade 1 Experience: Minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC.
• Grade 2 Experience: Minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse, with at least 10 years in Operating Theatre after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or post-graduate diploma.
• Willingness to work shifts, day and night duty, weekends, overtime, and public holidays.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure quality patient care regarding the identification of nursing care needs, planning and implementation of nursing care plans, and education of nursing personnel in the Operating Theatre.
• Render and supervise specialized clinical nursing care and support clinical staff with surgical and medical procedures.
• Utilize human, material, and physical resources efficiently and effectively.
• Maintain and promote professional growth/ethical standards and development of self and others.
• Display core values of the Department of Health WCG in the execution of duties.
