PRINCIPAL CADASTRAL OFFICER

Job Overview

The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development is seeking a Principal Cadastral Officer based in East London, Eastern Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for capturing, maintaining, and updating cadastral documents, spatial data, and survey records, as well as conducting technical examinations and providing cadastral information to clients. Applicants must hold a Grade 12 certificate and a National Certificate in Geomatics or Survey Officer Certificate (NQF Level 5), along with at least 6 years of post-qualification experience in a geomatics or cadastral survey environment.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Grade 12 Certificate

• Minimum of 6 years geomatics post qualification experience in a geomatics or cadastral survey environment
• Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems Software and fundamentals
• Knowledge of Surveyor-General’s Office Standard Operating Procedures and processes

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Capture, maintain and update alpha numeric data of simple and complex cadastral documents
• Perform mathematical consistency checks and data verification for proposed new land parcels
• Update cadastral survey databases through the addition or amendment of approved documents
• Capture and verify simple and complex historical cadastral documents
• Perform withdrawal or cancelation of cadastral documents upon lawful instruction
• Deduct, cancel and endorse cadastral documents with registered land parcels, leases or servitudes
• Insert, extract, issue, refile, repair, and archive cadastral records
• Conduct technical examination of simple and complex cadastral documents, diagrams, general plans, survey records, and sectional title plans
• Update noting sheets through the addition of approved cadastral land parcels
• Research and supply cadastral information to internal and external clients
• Supply aerial photographs, rectified imagery and maps from National Geospatial Information (NGI)
• Capture, maintain and update spatial data to determine spatial overlaps prior to approval
• Utilise cadastral survey calculation principles to improve land parcel boundary information quality
• Scan cadastral documents on approval, amendment, endorsement or withdrawal and link to alpha numeric data
