Job Overview

Groote Schuur Hospital in Observatory seeks Physiotherapists for Grades 1 to 3 positions. Responsibilities include patient assessment and treatment across various specialised hospital wards, departmental administration, asset management, and student supervision. Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Physiotherapist.
• Registration with the HPCSA as a Physiotherapist.
• Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA for RSA-qualified employees, or 1-year relevant experience for foreign-qualified employees without community service requirement.
• Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA for RSA-qualified employees, or 11 years for foreign-qualified employees.
• Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA for RSA-qualified employees, or 21 years for foreign-qualified employees.
• Ability to work after hours for ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) calls and willingness to work overtime.
• Knowledge of applicable health legislation, relevant Acts and Public Service Policies and Procedures.
• Good problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Appropriate clinical experience as a Physiotherapist in an acute and specialist/tertiary hospital setting.
• Ability to supervise undergraduate students in a tertiary setting, work independently, work within MDT, and work under extreme pressure.
• Computer literacy.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Assess and treat patients in Trauma, Oncology, Maternity, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic, Acute Spinal Cord Injuries, OPD, Medical, Surgical, and Cardiothoracic wards as well as High Care and Intensive Care units.
• Perform administration related to patient care and departmental administration.
• Manage assets in the allocated work area.
• Assist in the clinical teaching and supervision of undergraduate students.
