Job Overview

Groote Schuur Hospital in Observatory is hiring two Diagnostic Radiographers across Grades 1 to 3, with salaries ranging from R413 121 to R564 822 per annum. Candidates must be qualified and registered with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer. Responsibilities include performing high-quality diagnostic images, training staff, ensuring radiation protection, and providing a 24-hour patient-centred service including after-hours and weekend duties.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
• Registration with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
• Grade 1: None after registration for RSA qualified employees; 1-year relevant experience for foreign qualified employees without community service requirement.
• Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience after registration for SA qualified employees; minimum of 11 years for foreign qualified employees.
• Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years' relevant experience after registration for SA qualified employees; minimum of 21 years for foreign qualified employees.
• Willingness to perform after-hours and night duties, including weekends and Public Holidays.
• Knowledge and experience of theatre, mobile, fluoroscopy and general radiography, computerised tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.
• Appropriate experience in a busy general department with knowledge of radiation protection, quality assurance and equipment safety.
• Knowledge of Patient Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
• Computer literacy (MS Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Good interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure, independently and in a team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide support to the Chief and Assistant Director regarding day-to-day activities.
• Identify and perform the most appropriate diagnostic images of high quality.
• Be responsible for self-development as well as training of staff and students.
• Ensure optimal care of equipment, quality assurance and use of suitable radiation protection.
• Provide a patient-centred radiographic imaging service over a 24-hour period, including risk management.
