PHYSIOTHERAPIST GRADE 1 TO 3 Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services

Job Overview

A Physiotherapist (Grade 1 to 3) position is available at Kleinvlei CDC within the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services. Candidates must possess an appropriate qualification allowing registration with the HPCSA as a Physiotherapist, along with a valid driver's licence and relevant experience corresponding to the grade. Key duties include assessing and treating patients in Primary Health Care settings, managing Mobility Assistive Devices, conducting health outreaches, mentoring students, and handling departmental administration.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Physiotherapist.
• Registration with the HPCSA as a Physiotherapist.
• Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as Physiotherapist in respect of RSA-qualified employees, or 1 year relevant experience for foreign-qualified employees exempt from Community Service.
• Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA for RSA-qualified employees, or 11 years for foreign-qualified employees exempt from Community Service.
• Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA for RSA-qualified employees, or 21 years for foreign-qualified employees exempt from Community Service.
• Valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB).
• Knowledge of applicable health legislation, relevant Acts and Public Service Policies and Procedures.
• Experience with the Infant Neuromotor Assessment (INA) as a screening tool as well as experience in infant assessment and treatment of infants.
• Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Computer literacy.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Assess, treat and manage patients within a Primary Health Care setting, including the Community Based Services program and COPC.
• Manage the Mobility Assistive Devices (MAD) component of the primary health care facility.
• Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team of the primary health facility to meet the rehabilitation needs of patients.
• Conduct Health Events planning (outreaches) and training.
• Assist in the clinical mentoring and supervision of undergraduate students.
• Be responsible for administration related to patient care as well as departmental administration.
• Management of assets in allocated work area.
