Job Overview

The Office of the Premier in Johannesburg is seeking a Legal Administration Officer (MR-3) with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and at least 2 years of post-qualification legal experience. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal advisory services, conduct legal research, draft legal documents and contracts, manage litigation, and oversee compliance with PAIA and POPIA regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications

Grade 12
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or equivalent as recognised by SAQA
At least 2 years of appropriate post qualification legal experience
Good legal research, analytical and legal advisory skills
Proven ability to interpret legislation, draft legal documents and provide sound legal opinions
Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, problem-solving and report writing skills
Ability to manage litigation, contracts and complex legal matters within a government environment
Demonstrable professionalism, integrity and the ability to work independently under pressure

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive legal advisory services to the Office of the Premier and Provincial Departments by conducting legal research, analysing legislation and case law, and formulating legal opinions and recommendations
Consult with clients to determine objectives, provide advice on legal rights and available courses of action, and ensure that all consultations and advice are accurately documented
Draft and review legal opinions, contracts, service level agreements, submissions, correspondence and other legal documents to support organisational objectives and ensure legal compliance
Manage, coordinate and monitor litigation matters, including liaising with relevant stakeholders and legal representatives
Coordinate and oversee compliance with the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), while maintaining accurate records and ensuring effective case management
