Job Overview

A General Worker: Stores position is available at the Cape Medical Depot under the Chief Directorate: Emergency and Clinical Services Support. The salary is R144,024 per annum. Responsibilities include receiving stock orders, moving goods using pallet jacks or forklifts, packing stock, and maintaining warehouse housekeeping standards. Requirements include basic literacy and numeracy skills, warehouse experience, physical ability to lift heavy boxes, and willingness to work overtime.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Appropriate experience in a stores / warehouse environment.
• Incumbent must be able and strong enough to lift heavy boxes.
• Incumbent must be able to operate loaded pallet jacks within normal limits.
• Willingness to undergo training to operate a Hyster/forklift.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Effective and efficient receiving of stock orders from the bulk store into Dispatch.
• Move goods to and from different sections via a pallet jack using a goods lift or forklift/ hyster.
• Pack stock in boxes according to standards.
• Adherence to warehouse housekeeping standards.
