Job Overview

Groote Schuur Hospital in Observatory is hiring a Food Services Aid. Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: Basic numeracy and literacy.
• Appropriate experience in a food service environment.
• Ability to work day/night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Willingness to enter all types of hospital wards to serve patients.
• Ability to perform physical work, including lifting heavy objects.
• Ability to remain on feet for the entire duration of the shift.
• Knowledge of production for normal and therapeutic diets.
• Knowledge of HACCP and safety principles.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Utilise the Cook Chill System to prepare, cook, plate, regenerate, and serve meals and beverages.
• Follow standardised PAWC recipes and menus.
• Clean and maintain the kitchen area and equipment.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations.
• Communicate with patients and kitchen staff.
• Provide feedback on problems and recommendations to the Food Service Supervisor.
