DIRECTOR: PROVINCIAL FORENSIC SERVICES

Job Overview

The Western Cape Government's Department of the Premier is hiring a Director: Provincial Forensic Services (Ref No: DOTP 98/2026) at an all-inclusive salary package of R1 317 384 per annum (Level 13). Applicants require an NQF level 7 qualification and a minimum of 5 years of senior managerial experience. Key responsibilities include leading reactive forensic services, overseeing investigations, ensuring regulatory compliance with the PFMA, and managing the Directorate's strategic and financial resources.

Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate qualification at NQF level 7 as recognised by SAQA.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience at a middle/senior managerial level.
• Knowledge of legislation and governance, modern systems of governance, and public administration.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), National and Provincial Treasury Regulations, and Labour Relations legislation.
• Experience in strategic management, policy development, and strategic planning.
• Experience in public finance management, procurement, tendering, and human resource management.
• Effective communication, persuasion, influencing, leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Drive the compilation and implementation of a reactive forensic services operational plan on an annual basis.
• Provide input and drive the development and maintenance of the Forensic Services Methodology in conformance with best practices.
• Review and approve the investigation approach, scope, and legal compliance of all cases.
• Assess each reported case to determine merit and ensure proper investigation methodology and qualitative evidence supporting findings.
• Review final reports to ensure they are factual based on evidence and evaluated processes.
• Define and review on a continual basis the purpose, objectives, priorities, and activities of the Directorate.
• Drive the Directorate’s strategic planning process and manage strategic and business plans.
• Recruit, develop, retain, motivate, train, and guide staff to achieve excellence in service delivery.
• Manage participation in the Directorate budgeting process, including Annual and Adjustment Budgets.
• Ensure adherence to procurement, tender, and contract management requirements and align expenditure with strategic objectives.
