Job Overview

The Western Cape Government is hiring a Director: Crime Prevention Centre (Level 13) within the Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety, reference POCS 18/2026. The role offers an all-inclusive salary package of R1,317,384 per annum. Applicants must hold an appropriate 3-year B-degree/Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) or higher, alongside a minimum of 5 years of relevant middle/senior management experience in a public, security, or safety environment. Key responsibilities include strategic leadership, project coordination of crime prevention initiatives, implementation of the ICVPS framework, financial management under the PFMA, and people management.

Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate 3-year B-degree/ Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) or higher qualification as recognised by SAQA
• A minimum of 5 years relevant middle/senior management experience on a strategic level in a public/ security/ safety environment or related
• Proven knowledge of and working experience with legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices bearing on line functions
• Knowledge and understanding of information systems, programme and project management, and procurement/tendering processes
• Knowledge of policy development, strategy management, monitoring, and review processes
• Knowledge of public service procedures, governance, and administration systems
• Knowledge of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), National and Provincial Treasury Regulations, and financial policies
• Knowledge of Labour Relations legislation and regulations, and performance management

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Render an institutional support and project coordination service, leading and overseeing crime prevention projects
• Strategically manage the provision of institutional support, ensuring policies are developed and aligned with provincial and national priorities
• Coordinate crime prevention programmes, driving coordination to ensure targets are met and monitoring budget spend
• Render a project support service for the coordination of the Integrated Crime and Violence Prevention Strategy (ICVPS) Framework
• Manage the process of safety training and development to community structures, approving funding and overseeing contracts
• Define, review, and drive the Directorate's strategic planning process, business plans, and performance evaluation
• Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant legislation regarding record keeping, resources, and administrative duties
• Manage people within the Directorate, including recruitment, training, performance management, and promoting sound labour relations
• Assume direct accountability for efficient, economic, and effective control and management of the Directorate's budget and expenditure
