DEPUTY DIRECTOR: RISK MANAGEMENT AND INTEGRITY MANAGEMENT

Job Overview

The Department seeks a Deputy Director: Risk Management and Integrity Management based at Head Office in East London. The successful candidate will manage risk management frameworks, business continuity plans, and integrity management systems. Requirements include an NQF Level 7 qualification in Public Management, Business Administration, Economics, or related fields, three years of Assistant Director experience, compulsory IRMSA registration, and a valid driver's licence. The position offers an all-inclusive salary package of R932,292 per annum.

Requirements & Qualifications

• National Senior Certificate
• Undergraduate qualification (NQF level 7) in Public Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Bachelor of Administration, Risk Management, Internal Auditing, Accounting, Financial Management, BCom, or Economics as recognised by SAQA
• 3 years of experience at Assistant Director level in the field
• Compulsory registration with the Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA)
• Knowledge of Public Sector governance and legislation, risk management frameworks, internal control assurance systems, financial management and budgeting, ethics, integrity and anti-corruption frameworks, organisational and sector knowledge, and information and data management
• Good communication, project management, presentation, report writing, strategic planning, analytical and critical thinking skills
• Ethical judgement and integrity
• Ability to work in a team and under pressure with difficult deadlines
• Effective and efficient management and monitoring of organisational budget and expenditure
• Computer literacy
• Valid driver’s licence

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage the review of Risk Management Framework and Implementation plan
• Obtain, analyse and identify gaps in policy, strategy, and charter
• Circulate and analyse policy and strategy for comments from Top Management and Risk Management Committee members
• Submit inputs of the Risk Management framework to the risk management committee and forward to the Head of Department for approval
• Obtain Risk Strategy and operational plan, identify risk management activities, and recommend approval of the risk implementation plan
• Facilitate Risk Management Committee (RMC) meetings, draft minutes, and compile meeting packs seven days prior
• Manage the annual risk assessment process and maintenance of the risk register
• Provide support to programmes on identification, evaluation, and assessment of risks
• Monitor the implementation of the risk plan, record strategic/operational risks, controls, and actions, and compile quarterly reports
• Promote risk awareness culture, risk appetite, and arrange risk awareness sessions for the department and stakeholders
• Manage the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) within the department, coordinate the BCP task team, and facilitate implementation during disasters
• Monitor resources within the sub-directorate, develop job descriptions, manage performance, and handle employment relations
• Facilitate coaching, mentorship, training, and development of subordinates
• Manage assets of the Directorate and monitor the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures
• Attend to Internal Audit, Auditor General's RFIs, Audit Outcomes, and Findings
