ASSITANT DIRECTOR: MEDICAL PAYMENTS

Job Overview

The Compensation Fund in Pretoria is seeking an Assistant Director for Medical Payments (Ref No: HR5/1/2/3/24) with a salary of R487 197 per annum. Candidates must hold an NQF Level 6 undergraduate qualification in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a health-related field, along with four years of functional experience in financial services, medical aid, or claims processing, including two years at a senior level. Key responsibilities include coordinating medical invoice finalizations, policy development, preventing wasteful expenditure, and managing sub-directorate resources.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) as recognized by SAQA in Accounting, Finance, Internal Audit, Informatics, Business Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Public Administration, or a Health related qualification (Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy).
• Four years of functional experience in a financial services, medical aid, or claims processing environment.
• At least 2 years of experience at a Senior Practitioner or Senior Administrative level.
• Knowledge of Compensation Fund business strategies and goals.
• Knowledge of Public Service regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Knowledge of COIDA, PFMA, and National Treasury Regulations.
• Understanding of medical related legislation and regulatory implementation.
• Strong communication, business report writing, decision-making, conflict management, and financial management skills.
• Management skills including team leadership, planning, organizing, problem-solving, and analysis.
• Skills in medical bill reviewing, medical policy management, case management, project management, clinical risk mitigation, clinical coding, and quality assurance.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinate the finalization of medical invoices for Head Office and Provinces.
• Provide input in the development of policies and operational plans for Provinces.
• Monitor medical payments to prevent wasteful expenditure for Head Office and Provinces.
• Provide technical support to provincial offices and medical service providers.
• Manage all resources in the sub-directorate.
