Job Overview

Head Office is hiring an Assistant Director: Academies (Level 09) under reference REFS/056591. Candidates require a Grade 12 certificate, a 3-year NQF level 6/7 qualification in Sports Science or related field, 3-5 years of high-performance experience, a valid driver's licence, and no criminal record. Responsibilities include policy implementation, athlete development, managing high-performance programmes, sports science testing oversight, and financial and resource management. Requirements & Qualifications

• Grade 12 Certificate
• A 3-year tertiary qualification (NQF level 6/7) in Sports Science or related qualification as recognized by SAQA
• A minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in a high-performance environment
• Valid driver's license

• Financial and administrative skills
• Problem solving and analysis
• Listening and negotiation skills
• Programme and Project Management
• Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, PSA, PSR, and Employment Equity Act

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Facilitate and monitor the development of policies, procedures and systems
• Implement policies and strategies aligned with the national Sport and Recreation Plan (NSRP), the Academy Framework and the Transformation Charter
• Establish clear competition pathways for athletes and coaches by fostering partnerships with key stakeholders
• Develop, review, and ensure compliance with sports policies, legislative requirements, and grant frameworks
• Provide monthly and quarterly performance reports
• Facilitate and manage resources such as funding, training expertise, and scientific support for provincial and regional academies
• Identify and develop talented athletes from communities to elite national levels
• Design and implement high-performance programmes supporting provincial and national athletes
• Create platforms where athletes can source sponsorships and support
• Implement and monitor sports science testing protocols and data analysis throughout District Academies
• Manage financial and physical resources utilisation
• Develop and implement operational plans and the APP of the sub-directorate
