ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST: INFRASTRUCTURE DELIVERY FOR HEALTH FACILITIES

Job Overview

The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is hiring an Architectural Technologist for Infrastructure Delivery for Health Facilities based at Head Office in Bhisho. Candidates must hold a National Senior Certificate, a B Tech in Architecture or relevant qualification, three years of post-qualification experience, a valid driver's license, and compulsory SACAP registration. Responsibilities include managing technological advisory services, leading design processes, ensuring safety standards, quality assurance, administrative tasks, and research and development. The salary is R471 720 per annum under the OSD package.

Requirements & Qualifications

• National Senior Certificate
• Bachelor of Technology in Architecture (B Tech) or relevant qualification
• Three (3) years post-qualification Architectural Technologist experience
• A valid driver’s license
• Compulsory registration with SACAP as an Architectural Technologist
• Competencies in Project Management, Problem Solving and analysis, Decision making, Team leadership, Creativity, Change management, financial management, Customer focus and responsiveness, Communication, Computer skills, Planning and organizing, and People management

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan technical support to architects and associate professionals in site surveying, preparing measured drawings of existing buildings, and collecting practical information relating to proposed projects
• Prepare presentation drawings and models of the design
• Manage and lead the design process, landscape design and presentation, and preparation of working drawings serving as legal instruction to building contractors
• Ensure adherence and promotion of safety standards in line with statutory and regulatory requirements
• Solve broadly defined technological challenges through application of proven techniques and procedures
• Evaluate and monitor existing technical manuals, standard drawings and procedures to incorporate new technology
• Ensure quality assurance of technical designs with specifications and make recommendations for approval
• Manage administrative functions including budgeting input, reporting, operational planning, database maintenance, and supervision of personnel and assets
• Conduct continuous professional development and research on architectural technology to improve expertise and liaise with relevant bodies and councils
