ACCOUNTING CLERK: FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING (PAYMENTS)

Job Overview

The Western Cape Mobility Department, Western Cape Government, is hiring an Accounting Clerk: Financial Accounting (Payments) based in the Western Cape. Candidates require a Grade 12 certificate, knowledge of financial systems such as PERSAL, BAS, and LOGIS, and familiarity with public service financial legislation including the PFMA. Responsibilities include rendering financial accounting support services, payment office clerical support, and financial administration. Applications must be submitted online.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Senior certificate or equivalent qualification)
• Knowledge of financial functions, practices, data capture, computer operation, and collating financial statistics
• Understanding of Public Service financial legislations, procedures and processes, National Treasury Regulations, Provincial Treasury Instructions, PFMA, DORA, PSA, PSR's, PPPFA, and Financial Manual
• Knowledge of financial operating systems including PERSAL, BAS, and LOGIS
• Understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service and working procedures
• Skills in computer use, planning and organising, language, verbal and written communication, basic numeracy, and reporting
• Interpersonal relations, flexibility, teamwork, accuracy, and aptitude for figures
• Willingness to work irregular hours, meet tight deadlines, perform routine tasks, operate office equipment, and work under pressure

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Render Financial Accounting support services
• Provide payment office clerical support services within the component
• Render support with reporting responsibilities
• Provide financial administration support services in the component
