Job Overview

Caledon Hospital, Theewaterskloof Sub-district, is hiring an Ultrasound Radiographer (Sonographer) Grade 1 to 3. Responsibilities include performing a full range of obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound scans, managing equipment, producing high-quality diagnostic images, and maintaining clinical governance. Requirements include an appropriate qualification, HPCSA registration as a Radiographer in Ultrasound, valid driver's license, and relevant experience based on the grade. Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in Ultrasound Radiography.
• Registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Radiographer in Ultrasound.
• Grade 1 Experience: None after registration in Ultrasound Radiography with the HPCSA for RSA employees, or one year for foreign qualified employees not requiring community service.
• Grade 2 Experience: Minimum of 10 years appropriate experience after registration with the HPCSA for RSA employees, or 11 years for foreign qualified employees.
• Grade 3 Experience: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA for RSA employees, or 21 years for foreign qualified employees.
• Valid (code B/EB) driver's license.
• Comprehensive sonography education and extensive hands-on experience with emphasis on obstetrics and gynaecology.
• Thorough understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and disease pathologies related to sonographic findings.
• Ability to manage a large clinical workload and stressful situations calmly.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and medical staff.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound scans, including routine, level II/III, and specialized assessments.
• Use advanced ultrasound equipment to produce accurate, high-quality diagnostic images.
• Identify normal and abnormal findings and provide clear, structured reports.
• Adopt responsibility for regular back-up and storage of ultrasound images.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care, ensuring comfort and dignity throughout the imaging process.
• Maintain continuity of care by undertaking follow-up scans and liaising with referring clinicians.
• Manage the administration and care of ultrasound equipment within the department.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, case discussions, and presentations.
• Contribute to clinical audits and quality assurance initiatives.
• Uphold professional, ethical, and clinical governance standards at all times.
