OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST GRADE 1 TO 3 (5/8TH POST) Overberg District

Job Overview

Caledon Hospital in the Theewaterskloof Sub-district, Overberg District, is hiring an Occupational Therapist (Grade 1 to 3, 5/8th post). Responsibilities include providing quality patient care, outreach services to primary health care facilities, clinical governance, health promotion, and assistive device services. Candidates must be registered with the HPCSA, possess a valid driver's license, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and organisational skills. Experience requirements vary by grade from 0 to 20+ years.

Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapist.
• Registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist.
• Grade 1: None after registration as Occupational Therapist with the HPCSA in respect of SA qualified employees (1 year for foreign qualified).
• Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist (11 years for foreign qualified).
• Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist (21 years for foreign qualified).
• Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel in the sub-district/district to consult clients and attend meetings and training sessions.
• Good interpersonal, planning and organisational skills, and computer literacy (MS Office).
• Knowledge of applicable health legislation, relevant acts and policies.
• Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a resource-constrained environment and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide quality care to patients in the Theewaterskloof sub-district including Caledon Hospital and surrounding clinics and healthcare facilities.
• Provide Outreach and Support service to PHC facilities in the Theewaterskloof sub-district.
• Actively participate in skills transfer, training, and academic opportunities relevant to the post.
• Active involvement in the clinical governance of Theewaterskloof sub-district facilities as required.
• Perform administrative duties and referral to secondary and tertiary hospitals.
• Provide support to sub-district management while maintaining professional ethics.
• Render a clinical occupational therapy service at district hospital and PHC level.
• Provide health promotion, training, and community service interventions.
• Render mobility assistive device service and appropriate financial and administrative management.
