Job Overview

Khayelitsha District Hospital, under Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services, is hiring a Tradesman Aid for R170 226 per annum. Responsibilities include carrying out minor maintenance tasks, assisting with repairs and emergency breakdowns, plant installations, and supporting Artisans. Requirements include Grade 10, maintenance experience, workshop tools knowledge, physical fitness for manual labor, willingness to work overtime and on standby, and communication skills in two Western Cape official languages.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Grade 10 or equivalent
• Appropriate experience within the maintenance field
• Appropriate experience with workshop tools
• Willingness to be on standby
• Willingness to work overtime
• Physically fit to do manual labour
• Ability to handle tools parts and materials
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to speak effectively in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out minor maintenance tasks
• Assist with repairs and emergency breakdowns (including after hours repairs)
• Assist with the installation of plants, equipment and alterations
• Clear areas where work has been carried out
• Ensure that tools and material are available when needed
• Assist the Artisans in the execution of their duties
