SOCIAL WORK POLICY DEVELOPER: CARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO FAMILIES

Job Overview

A Social Work Policy Developer position is available at Head Office, Pietermaritzburg, offering a salary of R471 330 per annum (Grade 1). Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Social Work, registration with the South African Council for Social Services Professions (SACSSP), a valid driver’s license, and a minimum of 8 years of appropriate post-registration experience. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining family care and support policies, conducting research, staying updated on field developments, and performing unit administration.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Social Work
• Registration with the South African Council for Social Services Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker
• A valid driver’s license
• A minimum of 8 years’ appropriate experience in Social Work after registration as a Social Worker with SACSSP
• Knowledge of Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, Professional Counselling, Research Methodology, Service Delivery Frameworks, Policy development and analysis, and Ability to compile complex reports
• Skills in Communication, Interpersonal relations, Report writing, Financial management, Change management, Planning and Organizing, Research, Programme and Project management, Counselling, Presentation, Facilitation, Monitoring and Evaluation, People Management, Problem Solving and analysis, Driving, Networking, Computer literacy, and Numeracy

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain care and support services to families’ policies
• Conduct research and development
• Keep up to date with new developments in the care and support services to families’ field
• Perform the administrative functions required in the unit
