Job Overview

The Directorate for Facilities Management Services is hiring two Senior Telecom Operators in Pretoria (Gauteng) at a salary of R280 278 per annum (Level 06). Applicants must possess a Grade 12 certificate and at least one year of switchboard experience, alongside computer literacy and Microsoft package knowledge. Responsibilities include managing switchboard operations, routing calls, maintaining telephone logs, monitoring telephone costs using the Telephone Management System, and delivering customer service. Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Render telephone services, keeping and maintaining incoming and outgoing calls registers
• Screen, forward calls, and receive and record telephone messages
• Develop and maintain a database of contact numbers for all officials and other important contacts
• Provide information to clients, address general enquiries, and render customer services
• Ensure consumers are referred promptly and correctly and customers are always attended to
• Supply basic information to customers regarding the department's services
• Manage switchboard service by operating the switchboard to answer incoming and outgoing calls
• Report faults on the telephone system to the supervisor and service provider, identifying and inspecting default and defective equipment
• Utilise the Telephone Management System to monitor telephone costs and ensure switchboard and lines are in working condition
• Administer telephone accounts, complete telephone registers, reconcile private calls, and implement barring and other facilities
• Update and distribute internal telephone directories, print monthly cost reports, and allocate and monitor PIN codes
