SENIOR CADASTRAL OFFICER

Job Overview

The Department is seeking a Senior Cadastral Officer based in Cape Town, Western Cape (Salary: R338 106 per annum, Level 07). Responsibilities include capturing and updating cadastral and spatial data, conducting technical examinations of survey records and plans, performing data verification, and supplying geospatial information. Requirements include a Grade 12 Certificate, a National Certificate in Geomatics or Survey Officer Certificate (NQF Level 5), at least 3 years of post-qualification experience in a geomatics/cadastral environment, and a valid driver's licence.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Grade 12 Certificate
• National Certificate in Geomatics or Survey Officer Certificate (NQF Level 5)
• Minimum of 3 years geomatics post qualification experience in a Geomatics / Cadastral survey environment
• A valid driver’s licence
• Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems Software and fundamentals
• Knowledge of Surveyor-General’s Office Standard Operating Procedures and processes
• Knowledge of Cadastral Surveys
• Analysing and report writing skills
• Interpersonal relations and communication skills (verbal and written)
• Computer literacy

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Capture, maintain and update alpha numeric data of simple and complex cadastral documents.
• Perform mathematical consistency checks and data verification for proposed new land parcels.
• Update cadastral survey databases through the addition or amendment of approved documents.
• Capture and verify simple and complex historical cadastral documents.
• Perform withdrawal, cancelation, deduction or endorsement of cadastral documents with registered land parcels, leases or servitudes.
• Conduct technical examination of simple and complex cadastral documents, diagrams, general plans, survey records, and sectional title plans.
• Update noting sheets through the addition of every approved cadastral land parcel.
• Research and supply cadastral information to internal and external clients.
• Supply aerial photographs, rectified imagery and maps from National Geospatial Information (NGI).
• Capture, maintain and update spatial data, check for spatial overlaps, and improve land parcel boundary information.
• Scan all cadastral documents on approval, amendment, endorsement or withdrawal, execute quality checking, and link scanned images to alpha numeric data.
