ROOM ATTENDANT

Job Overview

The Directorate for Provincial Protected Areas Management is seeking three Room Attendants at Nylsvlei Nature Reserve (X2) and Masebe Nature Reserve (X1). The role involves cleaning tourism facilities, guest rooms, public areas, and kitchens, managing linen, and maintaining stock records. Candidates must possess an NQF 3 qualification (Grade 8 / ABET / AET) or equivalent, be physically fit, have no criminal record, and demonstrate strong customer relations and cleaning knowledge.

Requirements & Qualifications

• An NQF 3 qualification (Grade 8 / ABET / AET certificate) or equivalent as recognized by SAQA
• A housekeeping certificate will be an added advantage
• Physically fit
• No criminal record
• Ability to work independently and under sustained pressure
• Excellent communication and customer relations services skills
• Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays
• Knowledge of cleaning products and equipment

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Cleaning tourism facilities, ensuring that guests rooms are thoroughly cleaned
• Empty waste bins and ensure rooms are properly prepared with clean linen
• Clean kitchen, crockery, and cutlery
• Perform housekeeping services including removing, washing, ironing, packing, and storing linen properly
• Ensure guest supplies are provided and regularly cleaned
• Cleaning public areas, ensuring all tourists facilities and surroundings are clean and ready for use
• Adhere to hospitality standards
• Ensure records of stock and amenities
