Job Overview

Bishop Lavis CHC under Metro Health Services is hiring Professional Nurses (Grade 1 to 3) in General Nursing and Primary Health Care. Applicants require a basic nursing diploma or degree, registration with SANC, and experience ranging from none for Grade 1, 10 years for Grade 2, to 20 years for Grade 3. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive nursing care, supervising staff, maintaining ethical practices, and managing resources within a Primary Health Care setting.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent (R683 plus R254) allowing registration with SANC as Professional Nurse, or a 4-year bachelor's degree in nursing (R174) or equivalent.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Grade 1: None after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• Willingness to work after hours.
• Willingness to rotate within the facility.
• Knowledge of grievance procedure and disciplinary legislation.
• Knowledge and understanding of nursing Code of Ethics and Professional Practice of the SANC of Nursing Standard of Practice and scope of practice.
• Computer literate in MS Office (Excel, Word and Power point) and MS Outlook.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide direction and supervision for the implementation of quality comprehensive nursing care within the Primary Health Care context.
• Maintain ethical practice within legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Maintain a constructive working relationship with all relevant stakeholders of the Primary Health Care Team.
• Utilize human, material and physical resources efficiently and effectively.
• Participate in training programmes and research activities.
• Maintain workplace discipline of sub-ordinates.
