Job Overview

Oudtshoorn Hospital in the Garden Route District is hiring Professional Nurses Grade 1 to 2 specializing in Theatre. Candidates must hold a basic nursing qualification, SANC registration, and a post-basic qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing or Peri-operative Nursing. Experience ranges from 4 years for Grade 1 to 14 years for Grade 2. Responsibilities include providing specialized nursing care, supporting multi-disciplinary teams, and effective resource management. A valid driver's licence and willingness to work irregular hours are required.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Basic R425 qualification (Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or equivalent allowing registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• A post-basic nursing qualification (at least 1 year) accredited with SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Operating Theatre Nursing (212), OR a 4-year bachelor's degree in nursing (R174) or equivalent, plus a post-graduate diploma (R635) in Peri-operative Nursing.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Grade 1 experience: Minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable nursing experience after general registration.
• Grade 2 experience: Minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable nursing experience, with at least 10 years after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or post-graduate diploma in the relevant specialty.
• Valid (Code B/EB) driver's licence.
• Willingness to work overtime, after hours, weekends, standby duties, and Public Holidays.
• Good communication skills, supervisory skills, and knowledge of operating theatre services, occupational health, and infection control.
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive specialized nursing care within a professional and legal framework.
• Participate with the multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic health care, good documentation, care planning, and health education.
• Support and participate in clinical practice development initiatives, educational activities, and research.
• Ensure effective utilization of human and financial resources.
• Provide support services to the Supervisor and Nursing division.
• Render clinical services across institutions in the Ecosystem as needed to sustain health service delivery.
