Job Overview

A vacancy exists for a Professional Nurse Grade 1 to 2 (Specialty Nursing: Operating Theatre) within the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services at Hope Street Dental CDC, Southern/Western Sub-structure Office. The role requires registration with SANC, appropriate post-basic qualifications in Operating Theatre or Peri-operative Nursing, and relevant nursing experience ranging from 4 to 14 years. Responsibilities include providing specialised nursing care in operating theatres, supporting dental services, human resource supervision, and supply chain management. Requirements & Qualifications

• Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683) allowing registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• A post-basic nursing qualification (at least 1 year) accredited with SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Operating Theatre OR a 4-year bachelor's degree in nursing (R174) or equivalent plus a post-graduate diploma (R635) in Peri-operative Nursing.
• Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• Grade 1 Experience: Minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
• Grade 2 Experience: Minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing, with at least 10 years in an Operating Theatre Unit after obtaining the post-basic qualification or postgraduate diploma.
• Willingness to carry small kids.
• Willingness to work in Operating Theatre and Recovery room.
• Willingness to assist Dentist in surgery when needed.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide optimal, holistic, specialised nursing care within set standards and within a professional, legal framework as a Professional Nurse in an Operating Theatre.
• Provision of a Quality Dental Service.
• Periodically supervise and support effective utilisation of Human Resources.
• Effective Supply Chain, Asset and Data Management.
• Participate in training and Oral Health Promotion activities.
• Practice Nursing and health care in accordance with the laws and regulations relevant to nursing and health care.
• Support outreach services done.
