Job Overview

George Regional Hospital is hiring Professional Nurses Grade 1 to 2 specializing in Neonatal ICU, High Care, Postnatal KMC, and Neonates within the Chief Directorate: Rural Health Services. Candidates must be registered with SANC as Professional Nurses and possess a relevant post-basic qualification in Critical Care Nursing: Child, along with required nursing experience. Responsibilities include providing holistic healthcare, utilizing resources effectively, supporting nursing management, and maintaining ethical standards. Willingness to work shifts and public holidays is required.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683) allowing registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: Child, OR a 4-year bachelor’s degree in nursing (R174) or equivalent with a postgraduate diploma in Critical Care Nursing: Child.
• Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• Grade 1 Experience: Minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
• Grade 2 Experience: Minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse, with at least 10 years after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or postgraduate diploma in the relevant specialty.
• Willingness to work shifts, day and night duty, weekends, and public holidays.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape.
