PRINCIPAL INSPECTOR: OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND HYGIENE

Job Overview

The Department of Labour seeks a Principal Inspector for Occupational Health and Hygiene at the Groblersdal Labour Centre. Candidates must hold a 3-year National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Hygiene, Analytical Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering, alongside 4 years of functional experience and a valid driver's licence. Responsibilities include policy input, conducting complex inspections, technical research, and supporting enforcement actions. Requirements & Qualifications

• Three (3) year National Diploma (NQF 6) or Undergraduate bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Hygiene, Analytical Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
• Valid driver’s License.
• Four (4) years functional experience in Health and Hygiene inspection/services.
• Knowledge of Departmental policies and procedures, Batho Pele Principles, Public Service Act and Regulations, OHS Act and Regulations, OHS standard, and OHS Management System.
• Skills in facilitation, planning and organising, computer literacy, interpersonal communication, problem solving, interviewing, listening and observation, presentation, innovation, analytical research, and project management.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide inputs into the development of Health and Hygiene policies and ensure implementation of OHS strategy for the Department of Labour in terms of OHS Legislation.
• Conduct complex inspections for Health and Hygiene regularly as per the inspection programme.
• Conduct technical research on the latest trends in Occupational Health and Hygiene within identified sectors.
• Provide support for enforcement action, including preparation of reports for legal proceedings.
