OPERATIONAL MANAGER NURSING (SPECIALTY: THEATRE AND CSSD) West Coast District

Job Overview

Vredenburg Hospital, Saldanha Bay Sub-district, is hiring an Operational Manager Nursing (Specialty: Theatre and CSSD) with a salary of R720 819 per annum. Requirements include a basic nursing qualification, post-basic perioperative qualification, SANC registration, and at least 9 years of nursing experience. Responsibilities involve managing specialised theatre nursing services, human and financial resources, training, and research.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent allowing SANC registration as a Professional Nurse
• Post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with SANC in Perioperative Nursing OR a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent
• Post-graduate diploma (R635) accredited with SANC as Nurse Specialist in Perioperative Nursing
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse
• Minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse
• At least 5 years of the experience must be after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or post-graduate diploma in the relevant specialty
• Valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB) and willingness to travel
• Willingness to work standby, weekends, and during public holidays
• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet)
• Good communication, conflict management, organisational, interpersonal, creative problem-solving, and research skills
• Knowledge of legislation related to Health Care Service and Department of Health policies

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage, plan, co-ordinate and maintain an optimal, specialised nursing service in an Operating theatre setting
• Effective management and utilisation of human and financial resources to ensure optimal operational functions
• Initiate and participate in training and research
• Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development
• Provide effective support to the Head of Nursing Service
