OPERATIONAL MANAGER NURSING (PRIMARY HEALTH CARE) (X3 POSTS) West Coast District

Job Overview

An opportunity exists for three Operational Managers in Nursing (Primary Health Care) within the West Coast District at Diazville CDC, Hanna Coetzee CDC, and Langebaan Clinic. The role commands a salary of R720,819 per annum. Candidates must be registered with SANC as a Professional Nurse, hold a relevant post-basic qualification or post-graduate diploma in Primary Care Nursing, and possess at least 9 years of appropriate nursing experience. Responsibilities include managing curative programmes, maternal and child health, TB/HIV/AIDS/STI services, support services, human resources, and facility leadership.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science: Health, Treatment and Care (R48). OR A 4-year bachelor's degree in nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification.
• A post graduate diploma (R635) accredited with the SANC in Primary Care Nursing.
• Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• A minimum of 9 years appropriate / recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate / recognisable experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or post-graduate diploma in the relevant specialty.
• Valid driver’s license (Code B/EB).
• Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
• Good interpersonal, leadership, communication skills and a strong sense of responsibility.
• In-depth knowledge of nursing and public service legislation, regulations and departmental policies.
• Knowledge of Human resource and financial guidelines, policies and protocols.
• Knowledge and application of Ideal Clinic and National Core Standards.
• Knowledge of Community Orientated Primary Care.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• The effective management and execution of relevant Curative Programmes within the scope of practice and to be an advocate for the patient to ensure the provision of necessary health care.
• The effective management and execution of relevant woman and Child Health and TB/HIV/AIDS/STI within the scope of practice and to be an advocate for the patient to ensure the provision of necessary health care.
• Effective management of support services which includes Information management w.r.t data collection, verification, report writing and submission of data.
• Human resources management, i.e. supervision of staff, development and performance management.
• Finance and supply chain management to ensure effective budgeting and control.
• Control over infrastructure, maintenance and security.
• Liaise with all relevant stakeholders.
• Provide holistic management and leadership in the PHC facilities, mobiles, satellites and security.
