OPERATIONAL MANAGER NURSING (PN-B3): PHC

Job Overview

The Mpumalanga Department of Health is hiring an Operational Manager Nursing (PN-B3): PHC at Vukuzakhe Clinic, Gert Sibande District, with a salary range of R720 819 – R821 484 per annum. The role requires a Grade 12 certificate, a basic nursing degree/diploma registered with SANC, a post-basic qualification in Primary Health Care, a qualification in Nursing Administration, and at least nine years of nursing experience. Key responsibilities include managing PHC facility supervision, ensuring clinical standards, promoting quality care aligned with Batho Pele principles, and managing facility assets.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Basic qualification accredited with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) in terms of Government Notice 425 (Diploma / Degree in Nursing) allowing registration as a Professional Nurse.
• Post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year, accredited with SANC in Primary Health Care (Government Notice No R212).
• A minimum of nine (9) years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
• At least five (5) years of the experience must be appropriate/recognizable in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in Primary Health Care Nursing Science.
• A post-basic qualification in Nursing Administration / Health service management.
• Experience and knowledge of the District Health System.
• In-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices.
• Basic understanding of HR and finance and practices.
• Knowledge of relevant legal frameworks such as Nursing Act, Health Occupational and Safety Act, Patients Right Charter, and Batho Pele Principles.
• Operational management, problem-solving, planning, organizing, leadership, supervisory, conflict resolution, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) will be an added advantage.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage and provide PHC facility supervisory in line with the PHC Supervision Guideline.
• Ensure clinical nursing practice by the nursing team in the facility in accordance with the scope and practice and nursing standard as determined by the relevant health facility.
• Promote quality nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standard in accordance with the PHC delivery package.
• Ensure the implementation of National Core Norms and Standards including Six Priority Areas.
• Advocate for patients through ensuring adherence to Batho Pele Principles.
• Coordinate community involvement and participation.
• Manage and monitor effective use and maintenance of assets and infrastructure of the facility.
• Monitor information management and documentation.
