OPERATIONAL MANAGER NURSING (PN-B3): PHC

Job Overview

An Operational Manager Nursing (PN-B3) position is available at Diepdale Clinic within the Gert Sibande District, Mpumalanga Department of Health. The role requires a Grade 12 certificate, a basic nursing degree/diploma registered with SANC, a post-basic qualification in Primary Health Care, a qualification in Nursing Administration, and at least 9 years of nursing experience. Responsibilities include managing PHC facility supervision, ensuring clinical nursing standards, implementing National Core Norms and Standards, advocating for patients, and managing facility assets.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
• Basic qualification accredited with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) under Government Notice 425 (Diploma / Degree in Nursing) allowing registration as a Professional Nurse
• Post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year, accredited with SANC in terms of Government Notice No R212 in Primary Health Care
• Minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing
• At least 5 years of the experience must be appropriate/recognizable in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in Primary Health Care Nursing Science
• Post-basic qualification in Nursing Administration / Health Service Management
• Experience and knowledge of the District Health System
• In-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices
• Basic understanding of HR and finance and practices
• Knowledge of relevant legal frameworks such as the Nursing Act, Health Occupational and Safety Act, Patients Right Charter, and Batho Pele Principles
• Operational management, problem solving, planning, organizing, leadership, supervisory, conflict resolution, inter-personal, and communication skills
• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) as an added advantage

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage and provide PHC facility supervision in line with the PHC Supervision Guideline
• Ensure clinical nursing practice by the nursing team in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards
• Promote quality nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standard in accordance with the PHC delivery package
• Ensure implementation of National Core Norms and Standards including Six Priority Areas
• Advocate for patients through ensuring adherence to Batho Pele Principles
• Coordinate community involvement and participation
• Manage and monitor effective use and maintenance of assets and infrastructure of the facility
• Monitor information management and documentation
